Journey to Ladakh

High up in the Indian Himalayas there is a place known as “Little Tibet” called Ladakh. This is where I spent time learning about this ancient, agrarian culture. Beautiful momentsĀ  magically just presented themselves..! Original sounds and images.

Ladakh is one of the few remaining places in the world where the Tibetan form of Buddhism is the predominant cultural influence. The Tibetan Culture is one of the most ancient of our planet and it is highly endangered as a result of the Chinese communist invasion of Tibet in the 1950’s. Because of the destruction of their heritage and the genocidal Chinese policies during the Chinese colonization of Tibet, thousands of Tibetans today live a fragile existence in the refugees camps of India.

In the past Ladakh gained importance from its strategic location at the crossroads of important international trade routes between India and the Tibetan Plateau, but since the Chinese authorities closed the borders with Tibet and Central Asia in the 1960s, international trade has fade away except for tourism.
